Now that I am back in London after a 3 month long American adventure, it is time to prep for the Portugal Residency.
The residency is actually taking place in a rural town of Messejana which is about 2 hours drive away from Lisbon. So, I fly to Lisbon from London on the 28th of July 2018. Spend a day or two in there before taking the train down to Messejana on the 1st of August 2018.
I am really looking forward to it because all I get to do, is paint! The fact that it is placed in a rural set up sounded somewhat challenging at first but I am sure it is only going to do me good. For once, a lack of too many options sounds refreshing. Might do some benefit to my sometimes over active brain.
The only requirement for the residency is that the project we undertake should be in benefit or to celebrate the local culture and community of Messejana. So, I have decided to split my time into two parts. The first half is going to be dedicated towards research and general observation. I am going to spend some time with the locals, get to know them and their community. This will most likely mean that I will have to learn some basic Portuguese, which should be fun.
The second half is going to be 💯% studio work. Whatever I learn from the first two weeks of my experience in Messejana is going to be put together in the second half of the residency.
More to come when I have made it there. Until then, love, light and sunshine!
